I went to Wrigleyville to see a friend for lunch. On the CTA train stop, I came across Mr. Charles Pryor (www.charlespryor.net) and got a couple interesting candids, shown below:

I'm a horrible person, and have neglected my photoblogging duties for nearly a month. But, no, I haven't forgotten. New efforts, below:

Stale Coffee

These photos are from about 10 minutes ago. This guy sat down at my table at Starbucks, and started talking to me about the Olympics that Chicago just spent 240 million dollars to NOT get. I took his picture, mid-sip of his coffee. Impressed with my on-the-spot work, he gave me a dollar and a banana for my services. I didn't have the heart to tell him I was allergic to bananas...

I feel like this page doesn't have enough words. Plenty images, but no real story behind them. I should change that.

This was taken at Hubble, a hookah bar in Chicago that was near-empty (which is understandable for a Tuesday night). That's Marcus. He's a writer. He just started at Columbia, from Triton College. Give him three and a half minutes. Maybe even four. He'll take Chicago by storm. WATCHOUT.

I've been playing around with Gimp, literally the poor man's photoshop. This is what I came up with after 10 minutes. That's Alexandra, who will be going to NATIONALS in her beauty padgent. WOOT.

Logo-Action!

One of the images from the upcoming 'Dan Karlin Photography' website. I feel like everyone has a blog. I need a classy-esque professional website.

And working on this replaced sleeping up 'til now, so now - Catching some Z's.

And now, something new.

Drive Slow, Homie...

In January, I came across Chicago rapper, GLC, during a shoot I was doing for a couple up-and-coming models. GLC is most known for being somewhat of a right-hand man for Kanye West. His album will be coming out this year, so I supposed I throw him, as well as myself, some promotion by posting this candid image of him.

Galleries

I will soon have a sleeker way of presenting my work, but for the first of my visitors, I have the following galleries to show as examples.

"Collection" - Some of my more urban work, all set in Chicago.

"Sool Media" - A collection of candid digital portraiture, traditional film photography, and a couple of other fun scenes.

"B&W" - Traditional black & white photography, printed in my home darkroom.

For Your Promotional Enjoyment...

If you live in Oak Park, or the downtown Loop area, keep an eye peeled for an official Dan Karlin Photography flyer in your local grocery store or coffee shop bulletin board.

With help from Katie Garlock, the sole owner of Portraitions, a photography service in the Washington DC/Metro area, I am setting things up in a timely, and professional manner.

SPEAKING OF:

- I now provide PROFESSIONAL QUALITY prints of the work I do. Prices vary from size to size. Inquire for details.

- If you contact me now (708-305-3973 or dankarlinphotography@yahoo.com) and set up a session appointment, you will recieve a FREE 8x10 with your purchase.

- I will soon be accepting major credit cards as a way of payment.

Be on the lookout, and of course, let me know if you need anything.

Genesis

Hey, kids.

You're looking at my official blog. What you will see here, mainly, is my recent photography work, as it happens.

As an appetizer:

From a shoot I did with DJ King Midas and two of his artists.

More to come!
